Doug

I've blogged before about some of Jordan's friends that are deployed, but I'd like to elaborate on one of them today. His name is Doug, and he is in the infantry. The picture here is from our wedding so you might recognize him if you were there. We did a lot with Doug our first 9 months or so of being here at Fort Benning. He is a one-of-a-kind, and I hope that you can keep him in your prayers. Many are needed to keep him and his platoon safe, as you will see in the last paragraph.

I'd like to copy part of an email that Doug's parents sent to Jack and Karol (my in-laws) a few weeks ago. Doug is stationed in the easternmost part of Afghanistan, which Jordan tells me is one of the most dangerous places to be right now. I'm warning you...this will give you the chills!

Doug is in Afghanistan - in the middle of it. The 101st "historians" arrived for 4 days to document the 96 hour battle he was a part of. It was the most significant battle of the 101st Airborne in the past 40 years. Doug was part of a 2 hour interview. General Petraus is coming there (FOB Joyce) today.

The Lord has shown Doug his absolute sovereign protection. Except for the miracles they have witnessed - over and over - he said he and half of his men should not still be alive. Many details to share sometime. He keeps his Psalm 91 bandana with him at all times.

An Old Picture...

My Papa found this picture when we were in Amarillo the other weekend and made us a copy. This was when you could sit in the gate area, and I think here my mom and I had met my Grandma and Papa when they were connecting at DFW. Look at the shoulder pads, the hair, and the outfits!!! haha! It makes me wonder what we are wearing now that will someday look so ridiculous!

More pictures from Amarillo Weekend

This is Kendell, the newest addition to the Sharp family. My cousin Cerissa and her husband adopted Kendell about three months ago. She is very adorable and has such a happy temperament! Look how uncomfortable Travis looks holding her! We had a good laugh!

Amarillo

My parents and I made a short trip to Amarillo this weekend, and Travis met us out there from Norman. We went up there for my Nanny's 79th birthday get-together! Nanny and Grandad (in the picture with Travis and me) didn't know we were coming up for the party so we had fun surprising them! I hadn't seen them in about 1 1/2 years! It was quite the whirlwind weekend, but we had an absolute wonderful time!

PEB is Finished!

So the PEB is all done, and get ready for it...Jordan is officially getting out of the Army and we can move on with life!!!! woohoo! The disability rating is what we wait on next, which should take about 2 weeks they said. Then we just wait for our separation date so we can move back to TX!!

Update

Okay so we are pretty much in the last stages of this medical board process! yay! The VA portion is finished and now we are on the PEB (physical evaluation board). The paperwork should actually arrive there today, and we were told that Jordan's case would probably take about 2 weeks. The PEB's job is to determine if Jordan is "fit" or "unfit" to be in the US Army. To be fit, you must be able to do all these different things physically, which Jordan cannot do so if the PEB does their job correctly, Jordan should be determined "unfit." After the PEB, there is one tiny thing left, which is to determine a disability rating. That shouldn't take long at all and then we will get a separation date to move! We are really happy now that we can see the end of things!
