A few weekends ago we went to the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival in Austin. Jack and Karol met us there and Jason was there Friday and Saturday morning. We had a blast and will definitely go back next year!We drove to Driftwood winery, which was about 30 minutes outside of Austin. This was the view from where we were sitting drinking our glass of wine. Gorgeous! It's hard to tell from the picture but the vineyards are visible from this point.

Jordan, Karol, Jack at the Texas Hill Country winery and food pairing event. Saturday we went to this wine and food pairing event. There were 6 Texas Hill Country wines that we tasted. All 6 owners of the wineries were there to tell about their wines. The food they paired the wines with was awesome too!

Sunday was the big festival. They had tons of samples of different wines, food, beer and a few liquors. It was one of the best festivals we've ever been to!

Swap Meet

I had the pleasure of going to my first swap meet a few weeks ago! Nanny and Grandad were at the swap meet in Chickasha, OK selling some of Grandad's old model-t parts so my dad and I drove up there to see them (it's only a few hours to there opposed to 5 1/2 to Amarillo to see them). It's kind of hard to describe-there's just a bunch of parts everywhere! This swap meet was mostly auto stuff and it had to be preWWII (I think I'm remembering that correctly). To someone like me, it just looks like junk but to Grandad and the others out there it's stuff they need for their hobbies. Grandad had already sold a bunch of stuff by the time we got there. It was really good to see Nanny and Grandad! Here's a list of some funny, neat, or odd things my dad and I saw:

• A man with an unusual hat: The visor part was normal, but the part that goes over your head was fake spikey, highlighted hair! haha


• We saw lots of people with signs attached to them reading something like this: Wanted-1864 blah blah or whatever part they wanted. It was pretty funny.


• We saw some really neat old, redone gas pumps. They were in fantastic shape and cost about $25,000! I found this picture on the Internet just to show you what I mean. Similar to this but the ones at the swap meet were a lot better looking.


• A sign that read: Public Swimming: Whites Only. We couldn't believe there was still stuff out there like that and that someone was selling it!

Beaumont Ranch

Saturday night we stayed at a Bed & Breakfast at Beaumont Ranch. It's about an hour away and is 900 acres. We did an ATV tour around the ranch, which was amazing! We had so much fun! The guide told Jordan that he had to stand up on the ATV most of the time so it wouldn't tip over since he is so big, haha! He didn't tip over by the way. After the ATV tour, we had a rib dinner in the barn, and then a cowboy breakfast was included the next morning too. We had a wonderful time and wish we could go back to do the ATV ride again. They also have horseback riding and zip lines there as well so we just may have to go back to do them all.

Prayer Request

Jordan and I got forwarded an e-mail today requesting prayers for the next 5 days for Doug, one of Jordan's friends who is deployed to Afghanistan. Doug sent this request to his fiancee who forwarded it, which eventually got to us. He said that we needed to pray hard for him right now over the next 5 days, harder than you have all deployment because the next 5 days are going to be insane. So pray people!!!

We made the switch!

We finally made the switch to a Mac! We've been needing a new computer, and we decided to try a Mac since everyone that has one seems to love it. I've only had a few days to play around with it, but so far it is really easy to get adjusted to. I love the picture program that comes with it-so far that's my favorite.

Poor Little Maj!

This last week Major gashed his leg! We can't figure out how he did it, but he just came walking in with a very large and very deep gash. He acted like he didn't even know it was there, but it was a pretty disgusting gash. You could see the white tissue stuff that surrounds the bone and muscle, it was so gross! We immediately took him to the vet where he got 6 staples. He was so tough. They didn't numb or anything, they just stapled him right then and there. I waited a few days to take a picture of it because it was kinda gross before. It seems to be healing alright and I have to take him on Thursday to get the staples out, which hopefully won't hurt him too bad.

This and That

I haven't really blogged in a while so I thought I'd just write a few things that have been going on (not much for the most part though-hence, my lack of blogging!) I just love this dog. He makes Jordan and I so happy! Here he is doing two of his favorite things-holding a toy and looking out the window.

About a month ago two of Jordan's friends from West Point came and stayed with us. They are really funny together as you can see from this picture! They were here the weekend of the Superbowl and that Saturday was "Snuggie Bar Hop in Uptown." So there were people in snuggies everywhere in Uptown! It was quite a site to see!

Jordan's knee is doing good two weeks out of surgery. It still swells quite a bit, but it is only 2 weeks out so I think everything is going well on that front.

My mom is finally healing from her Staph infection. She got a MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staph aureas) Staph infection a few weeks ago and it was really scary. You've probably heard of MRSA being a big problem after surgeries and in the military. It is an infection that is resistant to many antibiotics so it can be extremely dangerous. She didn't end up in the hospital (although I think her doctor almost admitted her a few times), but she was really sick for over a week. Her doctor gave her really strong antibiotics and now she is beginning another 30-day round of antibiotics just to make sure it gets all taken care of. So we are really happy she is healing and doing well!
