Storms

The night before last we had some storms through the night. About 5 am the floor fan we have in our bedroom went berserk, blowing really fast and loud. This woke us up and then the fan stopped. A few minutes later, the ceiling fan also went berserk, spinning super fast! We later found the culprit...this tree. It's funny how electricity can get so messed up and make your electronics do odd things! Anyways, it ruined the back porch as you can see. And ripped some siding off the back of the house.

This is how we first realized a tree had fallen. Look at the view out the back door! haha!
The power lines were also down in our driveway.

This is the connection to the electric meter, which was ripped out of the side of the house. This is why we didn't have power all day.

It bent our satellite dish so we have no TV for now until they can come fix it!

We were very lucky though the tree didn't fall on our truck. Look how close it was!

It did fry our wine refrigerator. It doesn't work at all anymore! So sad! We were very lucky our new big TV was okay. We bought a surge protector when we bought the new TV. The surge protector got fried but saved the TV and our Wii! I cannot tell you how bad that surge protector smelled! Like burning plastic! So everyone...go get surge protectors for your expensive electrical items!

Memorial Day Weekend

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Weekend. We saw two movies: Alice in Wonderland and The Bounty Hunter. We like the Bounty Hunter the best, it was a pretty cute chick flick. We also went to visit Auburn University. We are only about 40 minutes from there, and Jordan had not seen the campus yet! It is a beautiful campus, and we had a great time. We were kind of disappointed though because Toomers (the best place to get amazing lemonade) was closed for Memorial Day! We made up for it with a few beers down the street though! :)
We had a very interesting day today, which I will blog about tomorrow. I'm very exhausted tonight and have lots of pictures to post about our day today, which will take a while (you would not believe how slow our internet connection is here!)

VA Update $ Other News

First of all, my dad had sinus surgery yesterday. He had a deviated septum fixed, a spur taken out and something else that I never quite understood. He is doing great considering it is not a very fun surgery to have! When he woke up, they realized that his jaw had become dislocated during the surgery so they popped it back into place. ewww! So not a fun day for dad yesterday.

Secondly, Jordan had the VA appointment yesterday. They will finish up with their review of his case and then it gets sent to the PEB. It seems that we are getting closer to the end of this! I guess that's all for now, not much else going on.

Aren't Dogs Wonderful?!

Dogs just make life better don't they? If you don't have one I suggest you remedy that situation and go get yourself one. Jordan and I have had kind of a rough, long adventure out here and our dog has made things a little bit easier. I know it sounds kinda silly, but he really has been a blessing to us. We adopted Major about 1 1/2 years ago. Many nights I will wake up and he is snuggled right up next to me. And he usually starts out bedtime in either mine or Jordan's arms like the picture here. Now tell me that doesn't make you feel better after a bad day! The other picture I just think is hilarious. And the video...well he was having way too much fun with that caterpillar or whatever it was.

PEB and VA

The next step for Jordan is for the VA to do their evaluation of Jordan's knee. We are not sure exactly how long this will take, but he had the first appointment yesterday. His case is much less complicated than most going through this, which is hopefull an advantage for us time-wise. We are very eager to move on with our lives! After the VA does their evaluation, then it moves to the PEB, which we think should only last about 2 weeks. So we are hoping to move back home maybe Septemberish if all goes well. yay!

Jerry

We have a new enemy. His name is Jerry (yes, we named him). We think he is either a squirrel, rat, or some other small creature. He crawls into our attic and wakes us up in the middle of the night. He scratches incessantly, and I mean incessantly! It is really loud and of course is directly over our bedroom. The first night he went on for like 2 hours! He has woken us up 3 of the 4 last nights. We get so angry when he starts his ruckus, so now whenever he does it we get the swiffer out and bang on the ceiling! haha! You can laugh, but it works because it must scare him. Okay so I know that this was really random, but it is kinda funny when you think about it so I thought I'd share.
