Pioneer Woman & more

Have u ever heard of The Pioneer Woman?! I absolutely adore her and think her life is so interesting because it is very different than mine. She has a blog: http://thepioneerwoman.com/ which I check out every day especially for her recipes. Anyways, this is my copy of her cookbook:

Do you think I have used it enough?! haha! It is one of my favorite cookbooks (obviously since it's falling apart!). This is her first one and since then she's done another one which I've yet to get. One of my favorite recipes is her homemade pizza dough. I make it all the time and it's delicious! I'm making it today actually which made me think about blogging about the Pioneer Woman. I'm making it for a friend who just had a sweet baby boy. Our sunday school class at church is really good about organizing meals for those who have new babies or have a medical crisis. I remember how much Jordan and I appreciated it after we came home from him being in the hospital. That was such a rough time for me and obviously Jordan as well with all the pain he was in. I was trying to finish up my first semester of nursing school when he was discharged from the hospital. It was absolutely exhausting between school and having to wake up every 4 hours to give him pain medicine! I guess that's how tired I will feel when I have a new baby someday! Anyways, it was beyond helpful receiving meals from our sunday school so I'm repaying it today.

Colorado Part I: Colorado Cupcakes & McKay

Our Memorial Weekend was spent in Colorado for one of my best friend's wedding. I flew up the Wednesday before the wedding to spend some much needed time with my cousin, McKay. She has started a cupcake company and I finally got the chance to taste one! Now if you don't know my Dad's side of the family very well you won't know that the Sharps take their desserts very seriously. We are all very picky and truly love sweet things, especially chocolate. So it fits that we have a cupcake baker on that side of the family. They were awesome-very moist and yummy! I have a link to her blog from mine if you'd like to look at some of her cupcake flavors-Mmmm K Cupcakes! She is hopefully going to figure out a way to ship them eventually so I'll let y'all know so you can order some.

Other than the delicious cupcakes we had a wonderful time together. We shopped, played, ate, and went to some fabulous happy hours!

Once I get the rest of the pictures on my computer, I will post more about the trip and wedding!

Hico...mmmm good!

First of all, I will apologize for doing a terrible job of blogging this semester! It was a long and tough semester for me-extremely busy- so I will be much better at adding posts now.

I'll start of with my Dad's birthday last Saturday. We went to Hico, Texas for a steak festival! It was amazing! Hor dourves were served starting at 10:00, there was a wine tasting from 1:00-4:00 and a steak dinner at 5:00. I highly recommend it if next May if you can go!

No this tattoo is not real-it's a temporary one that is a logo from one of the groups that was making steaks!
Mom and Dad at the wine tasting
Jordan and me at the wine tasting-they were all Texas wines
Please excuse my dorky hat-it's my pool hat and it sure was hot and sunny so I didn't really care what I looked like!

All the groups lined up along the square in downtown Hico-they were competing for best hor dourves and best steak and we enjoyed it all!

Giada!

Wednesday, Giada De Laurentiis came to Dallas for a book signing of her new cookbook. She is my favorite on the Food Network, and I watch her all the time so I was really excited! My mom and I reserved our cookbooks in advance to secure our spot to meet her a few weeks ago. It was way more crowded than I thought at the book signing! We waited for 2 hours, haha! But we had a great time! After the book signing we went and had sangria. mmmm.
Waiting in line. It was beautiful weather, thank goodness!
The line! These pictures don't really do it justice-it's a very long and winding line!

Happy 1st day of Spring!

In honor of Spring, I planted a container garden today. I'm attempting to grow tomatoes, jalapeƱos, chives, basil, and rosemary. I've been trying to upload a photo but I'm having a lot of trouble so maybe I can get it to work later.
